About
A small house with a long memory for good stories.
Rhubarb Press was incorporated in August 2025 to give unknown authors a voice, and to do it properly.
Our story
“Every great story deserves to be heard.”
Rhubarb Press was incorporated in August 2025 as a small, family-run publishing house with a single purpose: to give hitherto unknown authors a voice in an increasingly crowded literary landscape. It was born from a love of storytelling and a belief that exceptional narratives can come from the most unexpected places.
We were formed in London, with roots stretching to Peckham, Cleethorpes and Dundee. Those connections across England and Scotland shape how we read: we know that great stories travel, and that the best of them stay rooted in the places that made them.
What we publish
We publish under the Rhubarb Press name across thrillers, crime and literary fiction. Our first list is a political thriller, a novel of the road at night, and a story that begins at a church font.
Cosy Crime is our imprint for the intimate, character-driven British mystery: amateur sleuths, close communities, fair-play clues and justice served with a cup of tea. It is a genre close to our hearts, and it sits beside the rest of the list rather than in front of it.
How we work
Publishing should be a collaboration between author and publisher. We work closely with our writers from manuscript to market, and we keep it personal: one point of contact from first draft to bookshop.
- Structural and line editing by people who read the genre.
- Jackets and typesetting to the standard of the larger houses.
- Direct submissions. You do not need an agent to be read here.
- No fees, ever, for reading, considering or publishing a book.
What we stand for
- Attention. Every manuscript we consider gets a proper read.
- Standards. From editing to design, the book is finished properly.
- Range. Diverse voices and perspectives, across the whole list.
- Reach. Rooted in British tradition, written for readers anywhere.
Whether you are a seasoned author looking for a new home or a debut novelist with a story to tell, we would like to hear from you. Read the submission guidelines or write to enquiries@rhubarbpress.com.
